LESOTHO
Gone Packing
With mountains that soar over 14,000 feet, the tiny mountain
kingdom of Lesotho (pronounced Les-oh-toe) is nestled within the borders of South
Africa. MAF has served the people of Lesotho since 1980 and flown
thousands of people and planeloads of food, medicines and other cargo.
Lesotho is in crisis as it faces both famine and 40% of the population is
infected with HIV/AIDS virus.
As the hours of flight time build up, the costs of time and
money to maintain our airplanes slowly begin to grow until it's time to retire
the plane and replace it with a newer aircraft.
Ryle VanderVate
of MAF will be leading a team of volunteers, including IFMAF's Stan
Stanley, to Lesotho from February 21st to March 14th
2004. They'll have plenty to do as they disassemble two retired planes and
pack them into a container. They'll also be installing a special
reinforced floor with new seat tracks and seats on another plane.
Please pray for the safety and that they would accomplish the
task at hand. Please pray for each team member's families while they are
away.
Our own member Stan Stanley says, "I have a chance of a
lifetime. Yes, MAF has asked me to go to Lesotho with them. I will
be going as a volunteer so I will have to pay my own way. So if you would
like to be a part of my trip with a donation, send to:

"I will also need a lot of prayers for the time I will be
gone, Feb 21st to March 14th. I also take this time
to thank you for your help. I will give you a report when I get
back."
